We believe in art!
The Danish Center for Culture and Development (DCCD) promotes cultural co-operation between Denmark and the developing countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East through. We base our work on partnership and collaboration.
DCCD builds its work on four platforms: Culture and Development, Arts Fund, Youth Program and IMAGES festival.
The center’s work evolves around two fundamental ambitions:
To strengthen the art and culture of the developing countries and to cultivate new ressources and create growth and development in the countries we work in.
To forward new knowledge to a Danish audience about the cultures and contemporary artsscene of the developing countries through art that challenges and the general view, creates new and dynamic insights and gives rise to reflection. Part of this work also serves to engage Danish arts institutions and culture organization to take part in working with artists from the developing world.
The Center works both in and out of Denmark:
1) Activities in Denmark – such as the IMAGES festival, the Arts Fund and the youth program World Images in Motion – aiming at presenting arts and culture that support contemporary images of the developing countries to the Danish audiences.
2) Activities in the developing countries – such as the Culture programs – support the local cultural and arts environment in the developing countries, working to improve and widen the scope of platforms for diverse artistic expressions and capacity building and training.
Culture and Development
The main effort is put into realisation the Danish strategy for culture and development, which means integrating and promoting art and culture in the Danish aid initiatives. DCCD formulates cultural strategies in collaboration with Danish representations in the developing countries and contributes to the implementation together with Danish and foreign partner organisations. Youth Education Program – World Images in Motion
The Youth Education Program is DCCDs latest initiative to bring arts and artists from developing countries to youth and to students in Denmark. The aim of the program is to introduce and create awareness about developing countries amongst the younger generations in Denmark through the presentation and use of artistic expression and by creating a dialogue between Danish students and artists from developing countries on a personal and creative level.

Arts Fund
DCCD’s grants programme gives money to the exchange of culture between Denmark and the developing countries. Its standards are based on quality, innovation and the setting-up of new partnerships. DCCD prioritises projects that are able to create new reflections and break down stereotypes and prejudices, projects that are artistically innovative, and projects that are rooted in partnerships with a potential to generate new collaborations and knowledge sharing in the future.
