Images of Asia

The Images of Asia festival of art and culture took place from 8 August – 26 September 2003 in Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Randes, Skive, Vordingborg, Roskilde, Esbjerg and the County of Ribe, and a number of other Danish cities.

Images of Asia was the culmination of DCCD’s special focus on Denmark’s cultural cooperation with Asia, which was initiated in 2001. The festival aimed to increase the Danish understanding of contemporary Asia and promote understanding and dialogue between Denmark and Asia.

The festival was designed to make the Danes examine their relationship with Asia. Through music, dance, theatre, exhibitions, films and outdoor events on streets and alleys the festival focussed on contemporary and future Asia and fostered dialogue about the changes in our relationship with Asia.

The programme weighed new productions and cultural co-operation as well as dialogue about the many different aspects of the changes in our relationship with Asia.
